My research interests
are in the determination of macromolecular structure, primarily by single
crystal X-ray diffraction methods. We also use electron microscopy, circular dichroism spectropolarimetry, spectrofluorometry
and light scattering. The molecules
being studied by my research group include tuberculosis proteins, cytochromes
c' from photosynthetic bacteria, and small molecule therapeutics. By determining
the structure of these molecules, we hope to better understand their
function. I am also interested in the history of women in science, the
development of computer technologies as both research and education
tools for learning chemistry, and remote instrumentation access.
